Raleigh, NC (PressExposure) August 27, 2012 -- In the past 20 years, the United States has seen an astounding $25.7 billion increase in sales of organic food and beverages.* In response to consumer interest, The Wine Feed is examining organic wines from around the world to find out what makes them special, unique and delicious. Through a series of fall classes and tastings, The Wine Feed will share its knowledge and "best of organic" recommendations with wine enthusiasts across N.C.
"The Wine Feed has a special respect for the many wine producers who are tending their vines using organic practices and protecting their vineyards and the environment for many vintages to come," said Philip Rubin, co-founder of The Wine Feed. "We hope to enhance the awareness and appreciation of organic wine here in the Triangle, as well as help consumers understand what organic truly means for wine."
As part of their journey into organic wine, The Wine Feed recently welcomed a new team member, Laura Collier, to join their expert staff. Having traveled extensively through the wine regions of Italy, France, Argentina and California, Collier is versatile in all aspects of wine - and is particularly versed in organic varieties. Her obsessions include drinking rosé throughout the year, white wines from France's Loire Valley and red wines from the Piemonte in Italy.
Collier will join The Wine Feed's co-founders Philip Rubin and Phillip Zucchino in hosting three organic wine events this fall, featuring some of their favorite organically grown wines from across the globe. Each offering a unique theme, the events will explore what it means to be an "organic" wine - from the viticulture process to organic certification to wine labeling and more - and offer delicious organic wine options for tasting.
Events are scheduled for the following dates:
