Chicago, IL (PressExposure) March 11, 2009 -- In today's economic downturn, the job market is highly competitive for unemployed workers. Many experts note that the key to landing a job in such a tight economy is to build solid relationships that will provide an advantage over other qualified individuals or business competitors. However, many recently laid off workers cannot afford to pay hundreds of dollars for professional development seminars. This lack of resources will leave many without the necessary communication skills needed to land a job or build clients during one of the most competitive employment times in history.
The Wrightwood-Ashburn Overcomers (WAO) Toastmasters Club has an answer to this problem. WAO will feature a free workshop entitled Networking Naturally - Adding Value to Every Interaction at our next meeting on Saturday, March 14, 2009. In this session, Kim Taylor, creator and President of The Taylored Approach will lead job seekers through the world of networking so that they can find the most comfortable way to meet others, exchange value, and enjoy the many networking opportunities that present themselves in everyday life. In her work with The Taylored Approach, Ms. Taylor works with both companies and individuals to maximize their ability to move forward with amazing focus and speed.
The Wrightwood-Ashburn Overcomers (WAO) Toastmasters Club, which takes its name from its sponsor organization, the Wrightwood-Ashburn Chicago Public Library, 8530 S. Kedzie Ave., has been providing residents of Greater Ashburn and surrounding communities with a mutually supportive environment in which to improve and enhance both their communication and leadership skills since July 2003.
With an increasing membership, WAO meets twice a month so that members can work to improve their speaking skills, develop strong leadership qualities, and practice positive and constructive feedback for personal and professional growth. "People who don't have strong communication and/or public speaking skills are beginning to do more work to make these skills stronger in order to keep their jobs or to start their own businesses" says Cassandra Lee, Founding Member of the WAO Toastmasters Club.
By attending Networking Naturally - Adding Value to Every Interaction, you win because you gain the communication and leadership skills necessary to forge relationships in tough times; and you win because it costs you nothing. The meeting featuring guest speaker Kim Taylor will take place at the Wrightwood-Ashburn Chicago Public Library, 8530 S. Kedzie Ave, Chicago, IL on Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
