Yonkers, NY (PressExposure) August 22, 2011 -- September will literally be a barrel of laughs at Empire City at Yonkers Raceway with a trio of comedy shows on the slate, including the finals of the Bravest vs. Finest battle on Wednesday, September 8, at 7 p.m. All three are slated for the Good Time Room.
Billy Bingo (Long Island FDNY-retired), Mike Guida (Buchanan P.D.) and Mike McKenna (Waterbury P.D.) form the threesome on its way to the Bravest vs. Finest finale, with six ready compete for the last spot this Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Two Wednesday Comedy Nights are also on the docket, set for September 7 and 28. Todd Lynn will headline the September 7 bill which will also feature Joe Praino with John Iavarone as the MC. The September 28 laughfest will be headlined by Paul Mecurio, and features Carmen Lynch with William Stephenson as Master of Ceremonies. Both shows begin at 9 p.m., and admission is free for all Empire Club Members. Non-member cover charge is $15.
With a $5 donation at the door, all proceeds of the Bravest vs. Finest event will benefit a September 11 charity. The winning comedian will receive a donation to the charity in his or her name, a Yonkers Raceway harness race named in his or her honor, dinner at Empire Terrace Dining Room overlooking the track, and a booking at one of Empire City's future Comedy Nights.
Having fine-tuned his act as a touring stand-up comedian for a number of years, Lynn's time has come. Armed with the experience of countless clubs and universities, Todd is now taking his act to a new level. Having already appeared four times on BET's Comic View and written for Comedy Central's Comic Groove, Todd's broad appeal has earned him appearances on CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" and Comedy Central's "Premium Blend." He was the hit at the "Just for Laughs" 20th Anniversary Comedy Festival in Montreal.
Mecurio has won an Emmy and a Peabody Award for his work on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." He also is the warm-up comedian for The Daily Show. A national headliner in clubs across North America and in Europe, Paul has performed at the prestigious "Just For Laughs Comedy Festival" in Montreal and has made numerous television appearances including his own Half Hour Comedy Central Special, "The Late, Late Show" on CBS, "The Daily Show," ABC's "Wednesdays at 9:30," as a political satirist on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, "Tough Crowd w/ Colin Quinn," "Shorties Watching Shorties," NBC's "Late Fridays," VH-1, and many others.
