Raleigh, North Carolina (PressExposure) October 26, 2009 -- Capital Associates (www.casso.com), a full-service commercial real estate development and property management company, announces today a flu prevention program has been instituted in the majority of the 3.4 million square-feet of commercial space managed in the Triangle. This effort, aimed at avoiding the spread of the flu, includes enhanced cleaning procedures, signage in common areas and personal-care education.
"We are entering the flu season with H1N1 influenza still prevalent in our communities," says Jack Davenport for Capital Associates. "We are trying to do our part in reducing the spread of germs in office settings."
In response, Capital Associates worked with their janitorial contractors, including MG Capital Maintenance, to implement enhanced cleaning procedures called touch-point cleaning. This involves using EPA registered disinfectants to minimize bacteria on frequently touched surfaces including door handles, light switches, elevator buttons, hand rails and other fixtures.
"The economic health of a company is directly affected by the health of its employees," says Doug Anderson, property owner of a Capital Associates-managed building. "One of the main reasons we hired Capital Associates to manage our facilities is because of their commitment to maintaining high-quality, productive, class-A work environments."
In addition, hand sanitizer dispensers have been placed in the main lobby of each building and hand washing reminder decals have been installed on restroom mirrors. To remind tenants of disease prevention hygiene methods, the firm has sent e-mails containing helpful information for distribution to all building occupants.
As a reminder the CDC recommends the following four steps to prevent flu transmission: ⢠Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. ⢠Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective. ⢠Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way. ⢠Stay home if you get sick. CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
Prominent Triangle properties managed and leased by Capital Associates include: Weston I and II, Springfield Place, The Summit, 1255 and 1255 Crescent Green, The Exchange at Meadowmont and Two Hannover Square. The firm also manages and leases space at Keystone Technology Park, a leading innovation, and research and development business park in Durham, N.C.
