Toshiba Expands Into Large Scale Solar Photovoltaics

London, United Kingdom (PressExposure) January 08, 2009 -- Toshiba is to respond to the surge in demand for solar photovoltaic systems with an increase in the size of its production projects.The company will begin manufacturing large mega-watt scale projects for industrial solar power generation, such as through the use of its efficient Super Charge ion Battery, which boasts rapid recharging and long life capabilities.

Solar photovoltaics is one of the fastest growing green technologies and converts sunlight directly into electricity.Toshiba intends to draw on all expertise in its new expanded venture and expects to achieve annual business scale of around 2 billion yen (#163;1.5 billion) by 2015.

The market for solar photovoltaic systems is expected to reach 2.2 trillion yen (#163;16.8 billion) by that time.Toshiba has established a dedicated Photovoltaic Systems Division dedicated to responding to the growing demand for this new technology - widely regarded as a key component in the fight against climate change.
