South Pasadena, California (PressExposure) March 28, 2012 -- Total Education Solutions (TES), an innovative and quality special education services provider, is expanding its reach throughout Southern California to address the rapidly growing need for autism intervention services and serve as a vital resource, therapy provider, and support system for children with autism, their parents and families, and the community.
During the past 20 years, the incidence of autism has increased by an alarming rate: more than 600%. Today, for every 110 children in the United States, 1 is diagnosed with autism; and the rate is even higher among boys, 1 in 70. Not only is a larger population of children in need of autism related services due to this dramatic rise in diagnosis, but with the recent troubles of several service providers, including the sudden and unexpected closure of Los Angeles-based Wellspring, the need for immediate services has grown exponentially.
"I am saddened by the news of an agency servicing children and their families so abruptly closing," said Senior Director of Clinical Services, Meaghan Mullen. "It is absolutely disheartening to learn that families and employees were given no notice that services would end."
Autism interventions, especially when delivered to a child under the age of five-i.e. early intervention services-have the ability to greatly increase a child's quality of life. As such, TES is actively reaching out to families impacted by these events in order to ensure local children and families impacted by the disorder continue to receive the benefits associated with therapy and continuity of care.
Total Education Solutions, which operates clinics in Downtown Los Angeles and Alhambra, provides customized autism intervention therapy services to infants and children of all ages. Services offered at their clinics-such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and behavioral support-address developmental areas frequently impacted by autism, including communication, sensory integration, and social deficits, among others. These intervention therapies utilize a comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment model that promotes teamwork among professionals from varying fields to increase the effectiveness of therapy.
Additionally, TES also promotes collaboration with parents and families and strongly encourages parents to take an active role in the treatment of their child. These family-centered treatment/learning plans not only call for the inclusion of parents in treatment sessions, but also provide parents with the resources necessary in order to carry out in-home treatment and feel comfortable in that role, creating a pathway for consistency of service and care.
TES' clinics are located at 1111 W. 6th Street, Suite 111, Los Angeles, CA 90017 and 1000 S. Fremont Ave., Building A10N, Suite 10100, Alhambra, CA 91803. The main phone number for each clinic is (213) 607-4400 and (626) 289-7472, respectively.
