Delhi, India (PressExposure) February 18, 2013 -- Sport365, one of New Delhi's premier sports event companies, is introducing a unique military-themed obstacle race for all sport and fitness enthusiasts in the city. The XWarrior Race, as it is called, is a 4-km obstacle run, designed to challenge participants on a wide range of fitness parameters, including strength, stamina, balance, agility, quick thinking and mental toughness. Over the course of this run, participants will have to get past more than 20 commando-style obstacles, all different from each other. The race day, set at 10 March 2013, promises to be an exciting one for all those who enjoy fun, adventure and athletic challenges.
The idea of a full-blown obstacle run is a new one for Delhi's sporting community. However, in a country like the US, obstacle running is one of the fastest growing sports, with annual participation numbers of over 1.5 million people. Most of these obstacle runs are outdoor trail runs. However, there is no limit to how creative you can get with your run course.
The XWarrior race is a unique spin on the concept, with the course laid out through the length and breadth of the Thyagaraj Sports Complex, one of South Delhi's foremost sporting venues. The run will take you on a spin around the field and track, up and down stairs and ramps, indoors, down a subway, into the subterranean parking lot, and around the stadium perimeter. Essentially, every part of the stadium is incorporated into this exhilarating and challenging run.
While the run course itself is unique, there is also the matter of getting past 20 commando-style obstacles laid out over the 4-km course. Amar Gujral, Sports Manager at Sport365 and one of the brains behind this initiative, lays it out frankly, 'prepare to crawl under barbed wires, carry weights, balance on narrow beams, climb walls, jump, leap, and counter the unexpected at every stage.'
The big question, naturally, is whether something so unusual will appeal to the Delhi crowd. Ajay Gupta, founder of Sport365, certainly believes so. He argues, 'having organized over 100 sports events out here, I can tell you that people are more and more willing to try out sporting platforms that challenge their toughness and spirit of adventure in unique ways.'
It goes without saying that everyone is not in it for mere fun and participation. Competitive athletes will appreciate the fact that every runner will be timed, performance benchmarks will be set, and the top few finishers in every starting wave will be recognized as ELITE Warriors. There is also the opportunity for team participation. In fact, corporate teams are being invited to send in their 'platoons' for a day of fun, competition and team-building in an environment that is altogether unique.
With such a celebration of athleticism and fitness, good times cannot be far behind. Vinamra Cheemra, the sale and marketing manager at Sport365 guarantees a rocking stage. 'Live music, a spectators lounge, and food & beverages and fun stalls will all raise the excitement a couple of notches.'
All things considered, it appears that Delhi is poised to welcome a new sporting trend. Registrations are currently on at http://www.bookmyshow.com at Rs 1000 per person. Further details about the event are available at the official site, http://www.xwarrior.in.
