Toyota Makes Another Recall

Port Vila, Vanuatu (PressExposure) July 06, 2010 -- Toyota Motor Corp, the giant Japanese car maker, has now recalled its Lexus HS 205 hybrid vehicle, as well as halting all sales of the luxury vehicle. The company revealed that government tests had proven that the car could possibly leak fuel in a rear-end collision.

17,000 vehicles are involved in the recall which affects all model-year 2010 vehicles. Toyota said its tests on the vehicle had failed to show there was a problem with the vehicle.

This recall follows a run in vehicle recalls by Toyota, since 2009, involving brake problems, faulty accelerator pedals, floor mat problems, to steering soft-ware problems. Toyota states it wants its customers to feel the company is reliable in noticing and acting on any potential danger to the travelling public.

Toyota's recall of 6.5 million vehicles, due to a potential accelerator problem, was the fourth largest vehicle recall ever.

In June Chrysler recalled more than 600,000 vehicles which they regarded as being unsafe. This included two different types of vehicles over five years of production.

The recall included 288,968 Jeep Wranglers, produced between 2006 to 2010, which were subject to brake fluid leaks.

Wiring in the sliding doors had been proven to be a fire hazard in Country minivans and Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town, produced between 2008 and 2009. 284,831 were recalled.

At the start of June, General Motors Company also recalled 1.5 million vehicles, which were believed to contain a fire hazard, stemming from faulty windshield-washer compounds that heat up the windshield fluid to aid operation in cold weather. So far only five fires have been testified.

The recall affected several sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, crossovers and passenger car models from the 2006 to 2009 model years.

So as to recover the cost of the recall GM is seeking $20-25 million in damages from Microheat.

With no assets to cover the charges, bankruptcy was the only action left to Microheat, who created the HotSwindshield, cleaning system. The technology utilized heated liquid to clean the front glass of ice, debris and snow. Regrettably a short circuit on a printed circuit could overheat and cause fire.
