Hope High Dollars for Scholars, in partnership with TraderPlanet.com, a prominent financial social-networking website founded by Mr. Mendelsohn's eldest son, Lane Mendelsohn, is pleased to announce the first Legacy Scholarship to be awarded to a Hope High senior interested in pursuing higher education in business and an entrepreneurial career in the private sector. The Louis B. Mendelsohn Entrepreneur Award, as the scholarship is named, will be presented on Wednesday morning, May 29, 2013, at the Hope High School Honors Day ceremony to be held at the school. Louis Mendelsohn, a 1965 graduate of Hope High, and his son, Lane Mendelsohn, will personally present the award.
According to Lane Mendelsohn, "TraderPlanet is proud to be an agent for positive change in local communities and in particular in Providence, where my dad was born and grew up before going to college in Pittsburgh. We are proud to partner with Hope High Dollars for Scholars with this legacy scholarship program. We hope others will recognize the value of the Hope High Dollars for Scholars program, as we do, in providing opportunities for deserving students, lacking the financial resources needed, to attend college."
For Louis Mendelsohn, this award demonstrates his strong connection to Hope High. "I fondly remember my high school experiences at Hope, and I am honored to be able to fund the Hope High Dollars for Scholars first named Legacy Scholarship award. Hopefully, this will encourage other Hope alumni as well as local community leaders in Providence to join together to assure that the Hope High Dollars for Scholars program becomes an enduring source of financial support and encouragement to future generations of graduates who aspire to live the American dream as I have done."
