Adelaide, Australia (PressExposure) March 30, 2009 -- Two sets of virus samples were used for testing. The first set contained malicious codes which have emerged over the past nine months, whilst the second set contained malware collected in the range of the previous three years. For positive evaluation of the software, successful detection of viruses from the more up-to-date set was crucial.
TrustPort Antivirus reached an excellent detection ratio of 97.1% during the testing of the current malicious code samples, and placed amongst the strong top ten antivirus solutions. The biggest success was obtained in the detection of classic viruses (99.3%), but its quality was also demonstrated in the detection of back doors (98.9%), macro viruses (98,8%) and worms (98.4%).
Within the independent project AV-Comparatives, four big tests containing the world's leading antivirus are held annually. Two of them concentrate on classic on-demand scanning, whilst the other two focus on the detection of yet unknown viruses. High-quality antivirus solutions should not only be able to detect malicious codes by comparing them with a database of known viruses, but should also be able to correctly recognize suspicious codes.
TrustPort Antivirus and TrustPort PC Security contain two advanced technologies allowing the detection of new viruses. One of them is heuristic analysis, which detects malicious codes by its typical structure or behavior. The other is sandbox, which runs the suspicious codes in a separated environment. From the results of the codes, it can be derived whether they are harmful malware, or legitimate software.
While TrustPort Antivirus works as a compact protection that effectively stops viruses, spyware and spam, TrustPort PC Security additionally offers a personal firewall, reliable data encryption and secure data shredding. Both products have undergone several substantial changes in recent months. There was a significant acceleration to the way opened files are scanned, and there was also an optimization with the combination of scanning engines.
The aim of the current changes has primarily been the satisfaction of end users who require user-friendly software, fulfilling the role of a reliable defender of the computer and the data stored in it. The needs of a growing number of customers who work with several computers have been addressed with products TrustPort Antivirus USB Edition and TrustPort Antivirus U3 Edition. Detailed product information can be found on TrustPort's web site.
