Tulsa, OK (PressExposure) June 05, 2009 -- Tulsa web design firm Aqua Vita Creative will be helping the Tulsa Southside Rotary Club at the opening of the brand-new bark park, Biscuit Acres, this weekend.
The grand opening starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, at Hunter Park, located at 91st and Lakewood in South Tulsa. Aqua Vita Creative employees Jonathan Cox, Jessica Cox, and Michelle Pierce will be among the Rotary volunteers helping out.
"It's going to be a pretty big deal," said Pierce, Aqua Vita's editor in chief. "Before now, the only bark park in Tulsa was on the north side, which is a good 30 minute drive for people living in the south part of the city. This is going to open up a whole new area for dog lovers, and it's much closer to home."
There will be booths at the Biscuit Acres Grand Opening for veterinary clinics around the Tulsa area, and a table where dogs can get colorful, celebratory scarves.
As members of Southside Rotary, the Aqua Vita Creative team has been involved with other Rotary projects, both locally and internationally. They volunteered at Be Wise, Immunize in May, and Pierce traveled to Mexico to deliver wheelchairs with members from four other Rotary clubs. Jessica and Jonathan manage Southside Rotary's website, and Pierce edits the club's weekly newsletter.
"When we originally created Aqua Vita, we worked almost exclusively with nonprofit organizations," said Jonathan, owner of Aqua Vita. "Even when we expanded to include other companies, we wanted to continue to help service and nonprofit organizations."
Several Aqua Vita Creative clients are involved in humanitarian efforts as well. The Bushenyi Alliance for Rural Health and Development focuses on educating orphans in Uganda. The Bolivian Pastors Fund raises money to pay the salaries of rural pastors in Bolivia. Engineers in Action is a nonprofit group that facilitates civil engineering projects for poor communities.
"We all believe it's important to give back to the community, especially when times are tough," said Jessica, Aqua Vita's marketing director. "With the dog park, we saw businesses and individuals pulling together to make the project successful. That's so encouraging."
