Antalya, Turkey (PressExposure) September 05, 2009 -- âThe best place to stay in Antalya, Tuvana Hotel occupies half a dozen separate houses on a narrow street in Kaleiçi. The oldest house in the hotel belonged to the grandmother of the owner, Aziz Tankut, and it is filled with personal things that he has known since childhood: not just the art deco wall clock with its strange Arabic numerals or the massive wardrobe that his grandfather bought from a departing Italian after Turkish independence, but also heirlooms such as a jewellery box that was part of his grandmother's dowry, and the collection of photographs of youthful great-uncles, proud and mustachioed in military uniform.
All this intimate bric-a-brac creates the impression that you are staying in the home of an interesting Turkish friend, but it is the extraordinary welcome provided by Aziz and his business partner Nermin Sumer that really makes you believe it. They seem to know every guest by name, and think nothing of taking their visitors to the movies on their evening off. The rooms at Tuvana are splendid, with small but luxurious bathrooms and fresh white hollyhocks by the window through which there are views of the blue Bey Mountains. The restaurant serves traditional Turkish dishes in a fine-dining style - not an easy trick to pull off. Try the mücver (a kind of spicy courgette tortilla), it is quite delicious.â says Conde Nast Traveler for Tuvana Hotel.
