Two Women Set Off To Find Positivity In New Documentary

Costa Mesa, CA (PressExposure) March 09, 2012 -- What started as a simple road-trip turned into a "movement" of an idea for Christy Mann and Kasie Burgamy, owners of Rock and Cookie Pictures, LLC. The young company (founded in August 2011) focuses on documentary-style photography and videography, and The Fifty Nifty: A Positively American Film will mark their debut feature-length project.

The duo will trek across the county in a remodeled '71 Chevy Camper-Van, in search of fifty positive words that represent the "good qualities of living in America". Last year, a road-trip led them off the beaten path where they discovered "hidden gems". "There is so much beauty and positivity that exists within this country, mostly in the nooks and crannies, yet our media feeds us a fa├žade- an image of our country as a sick, depressed, broken place," explains Mann. "We're rarely given the opportunity to appreciate the good that was once so prevalent."

Their goal is to create a 90-minute film and a photographic journal, and to share it with as many people as possible. The trip is set to begin as soon as they secure funding for fuel.

"We're going to do whatever it takes," explains Burgamy. "This is a project that America needs right now, and we're determined to make that happen. If you look at the past, you'll find we've moved away from traditional values- away from the times when Americans were most patriotic- and we want to bring that back."

It's no secret that our country is in a weakened state. Our unemployment rates are through the roof, we owe insane amounts of debt and homes across the nation are being abandoned and left to rot. Our stock market yo-yo's, grandmothers are being maced, and our political leaders can't seem to get along We all know this is occurring in the place we call home. Yet we're still force-fed the grim reality every time we turn on the television or pick up a newspaper. The media has made it their "convenient" responsibility to remind us of all the negativity that exists in this country - and we're eating it up. (Studies show media stocks reign among the strongest)

In 2012, we'll challenge that. We'll begin a 100-day journey to visit all fifty states with the goal of finding fifty words - each exemplifying something positive about this country (IE: Ambition, Opportunity, Patriotism). In a country that is so currently consumed by negativity, we hope to shine a positive light. We want to create a movement towards a better way; towards a better America.
