Bracknell, United Kingdom (PressExposure) August 28, 2009 -- Ingrid gave up her career in television production with the ABC network to pursue her love of jazz, following post graduate studies in Vocal Pedagogy at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2001.
Ingrid has performed as a soloist with the Queensland Orchestra and appeared on national television specials while maintaining a busy schedule of corporate events, teaching both privately and at the Jazzworx Institute as well as running workshops and master classes locally and internationally in the United States, France and London.
Performing regularly at Australian jazz festivals, she has also been producing a jazz singers' jam night for 8 years and has been artistic director of local jazz festivals as well as vice president of Jazz Queensland, the jazz cultural organisation in the State.
In her programme, Ingrid will present vocal and instrumental jazz recordings from Australia. You'll be treated to the distinctive sounds of classic, contemporary and original jazz from Australian jazz artists.
Welcoming Ingrid to the station, Station Director of Music Brian Soundy said: âSince visiting Australia a few years ago, and being amazed at the standard and originality of Jazz there, I have found it difficult to keep in touch with Australian scene. I was delighted when Ingrid James accepted our invitation to join UK Jazz Radio as a presenter of her show, Jazz Downunder.â
Brian added: âI know listeners not familiar with Ozzy jazz, will as I was, amazed at what is on offer. But take a look at the talent of Brandon Allen, for example, and it all makes senseâ.
Listeners can enjoy the programmes on their computers at work, PCâs at home, wi-fi radios, modern mobile phones, Playstation PSPâs and in-car entertainment systems through Bluetooth enabled hands-free mobile phone kits. The future of internet radio is enhanced by the launch of a new generation of internet-radio equipped car radios and the long-awaited development of a new widget which enables radio streams to be converted to an FM signal.
The impressive line-up of Presenters on the station, to which the station has proudly added Ingrid, contains household names within the jazz world including Zoltan Dekany, Trudy Kerr, Dave Self, Frank Griffiths, Kai Hoffman, Mark Pearson, Mornington Lockett and Brian Soundy himself. More names will be announced over the coming weeks. The station is trying to live up to their motto: âfor jazz people, by jazz peopleâ.
