Verona, Italia Italia (PressExposure) March 06, 2012 -- The most important event of the year for professionals of the olive oil industry is coming to Verona. From March 25th to the 28th, the International Exhibition of Quality Extra-Virgin Olive Oil, SOL, is going to occupy the grounds of Veronafiere with this very representative product of the Made in Italy landscape.
In its eighteenth edition, the exhibition returns with a vast offer of exhibitors and workshops of great interest for all the professionals of the olive oil production in Europe and beyond and for those buyers, especially international ones, that find in this product the quality of Italian tradition. The fair, whose expositive area is over 10.500 square meters, forecasts even better numbers than in 2011: 225 exhibitors and over 35.000 visitors, 7.000 of whom came from 72 different countries.
The International Exhibition of Quality Extra-Virgin Olive Oil takes place at the same time as another event of fundamental Italian character: the International Wine&Spirits Exhibition, Vinitaly, is also held in the grounds of Veronafiere, being the perfect complement to the olive oil fair. Moreover, during these same dates will also take place in these area of Verona the exhibition Enolitech, which will showcase the more technical side of wine and olive oil production by presenting the latest equipment and new technologies applicable to these industries.
Among the many workshops that will take place during the SOL exhibition, on Monday 26th several are going to touch the issues of sustainable production and adaptation to climatic change. On the morning of Thursday 27th, the opportunities represented by international markets like the Russian one will be object of analysis.
The references to Sol d Oro will surely be a focal point of the event. Producers from countries like Spain, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Turkey, Greece and Lebanon have participated in this international contest dedicated to the elaboration of Extra-Virgin Olive Oil. In this tenth edition, where competing oils have been evaluated by thirteen international judges, has seen Italy take home the gold in the intense fruit category and get almost all the silver and bronze medals in the delicate fruit and medium and average fruit categories, in which the appreciated Sol d'Oro, of gold, have been won by Chile and Slovenia respectively.
The organization has also set up guided tastings, dedicated in particular to the several buyers that come to the exhibition with the objective of discovering typical olive oils from the various regions and to meet producers in order to establish commercial relations in the space corresponding to the International Meeting Point.
Another initiative that returns this 2012 after the positive feedback received in the past editions is the Restaurant Sol Goloso's Kitchen Lab, the perfect opportunity to discover the best uses of extra-virgin olive oil. Every day, innovative dishes and traditional Italian specialties will be presented, as well as original confectionery recipes.
