Barrie, Ontario Canada (PressExposure) April 14, 2007 -- It's often a dream to travel back in time, to just turn on a switch and catapult into some of the most exciting times in early human civilization. Who would you choose to rub shoulders with if you had a choice? Who would you want to find there? Alexander The Great? Cleopatra? Richard The Lionhearted? For many though, the medeival times beckon, from the time of wizard's and early lords and ladies. These are the questions we consider as we read through The Wizard's Daughter by Victoria Graydale.
Victoria Graydale is pleased to finally see the effort of her hard work in novel form. Set for release on May first, this book places her firmly in competition with other greats such as Beatrice Small and Diana Gabalgon. Three years ago, she submitted this book to a new upstart, independent press looking for manuscripts and they said 'yes'. Graydale has always written in the Technical Writing and non-fiction genre and for that reason, she enjoyed bringing these medieval characters to life, especially Kendra and Adrian.
The Wizard's Daughter is a journey story and starts with a terrible situation. Adrian, a work-for-hire mercenary for Cedrick has somehow made an error. He was supposed to grab Lady Millie but instead he ended up with a pretender in a bridal dress. Cedrik orders him to do away with her and he should have immediately followed orders but instead, he took her back to his room to think things through, to considers his options. He has an uneasy feeling about this mistake. He discovered in the process that this woman named Kendra had an acid tongue, until of course she realized that he was supposed to get Millie and force her into marriage with Cedrick after an elaborate ruse.
Her fast talking convinces him that Cedrick is now just waiting for him to 'get rid of her' because Cedrick does not tolerate mistakes, no matter how loyal the mercenary. Somehow, Adrian finds himself whipped up into Kendra's plans to steal Millie away to a safer place until it all blows over and she concludes that Millie would be safe with the wizard. And while the two join forces, Adrian can't help thinking about this slip of a girl, Kendra and what she does to him. Will Kendra and Adrian save Millie? Will Cedrick beat them to the punch? Will Adrian reveal his secret? Will Adrian's past thwart their efforts?
