WLCI's Employer Council Redefine Management Education in India

Noida, India (PressExposure) May 13, 2013 -- WLCI, ranked as the 2nd best emerging B school in India has introduced some unique initiatives in business management education to keep the students aligned with the current requirements of the industry. One such initiative is that of setting up an organization known as the Employers council. WLCI's brainchild- a unique organization called the Employer Council which consists of senior members has redefined business management education in India. The members provide an updated and an industry oriented business curriculum to WLCI students. Presently, there are over 300 members in this organization who create an industry-oriented business management course for WLCI students. This is a first-of-its kind attempt in the area of business management education where students are provided industry-relevant course content.

Some of WLCI's honourable EC members are Mr. Anand Sankhe, Corporate Finance & Investment Banking, PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited, Mr. Ajay Devraj, Senior Vice-President-Group Human Capital, Welspun India Limited, Mr. Anil Malhotra, Head-Commercial Business North, Elite Brands Private Limited, Mr. Anjan Bhowmik, Manager HR, ITC Limited, Mr. Alok Duggal, Head of Marketing, ING Vysya Bank Limited, Mr. Amitabh Singh, Head Sales - Food Services, DABUR India Limited, Mr. Anand Sankhe, Corporate Finance & Investment Banking, PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited, Mr. Anoop Kapoor, Director, Lynx Tools & Components Private Limited, Mr. Amit Kumar Goel, Assistant Vice President, Citibank India and Mr. Amit Bhatia, Head-Strategic Alliance, NIIT Limited.

The Employers Council members tailor the content to make it relevant to the industry requirements. Such a course equips students with knowledge of the professions/ sub-professions of a business. The institute realized during the initial period of its establishment that there's a great divide between the education students receive in management institutes and the requirements of the industry/employers. To make students competent to match the expectations of the employers in terms of knowledge abilities and skills, WLCI introduced this unique concept of employers themselves preparing the course content of its management program and thus students are prepared to meet the challenges of the professional world.

With EC, WLCI students not only develop abilities and gain superior knowledge to students of other MBA and business school, but also get numerous opportunities to interact with industry professionals. They get an insight into the working of the industry which helps them to prepare themselves for working in professional environment.

WLCI has always focussed on Ability Creation of the students rather than just plain academic teaching and EC is one of many such successful attempts. Other unique initiatives of the WLCI are on-the-job training program which enables students to work part-time alongside studying business management course at the college. Also, it has professionals from the industry as mentors who train the students in the best manner and equip them with abilities and skills to compete in a challenging business environment.

The Employers Council members have ushered a revolution in management education by making it highly relevant to the industry needs. With such unique efforts such as the Employers Council, the institute has created a benchmark in the area of professional learning in India. Kudos to the institute and EC for revamping management education, which is the most sought after career today.
