Manalapan, New Jersey (PressExposure) March 14, 2012 -- Walking Through Walls, written by Karen Cioffi and illustrated by Aidian WillowRaven, has been selected to receive the Children's Literary Classics Seal of Approval. The CLC Seal of Approval is a designation reserved for those books which uphold the rigorous criteria set forth by the Children's Literary Classics review committee, a team comprised of individuals with backgrounds in publishing, editing, writing, illustration and graphic design.
Walking Through Walls is a middle grade fantasy adventure set in ancient China. The main character, Wang, longs to be rich...and powerful. At twelve-years-old, he already knows more about the Eternals and their way of life than many of the adults in his village. Learning about these mystics takes his thoughts away from the possibility of working in the wheat fields all his life, like his father. Wang has far grander goals.
He studies the legend of the mystical Eternals. Certain they are real, Wang journeys to their temple and begins an apprenticeship with the Eternal Master. There he enters a world of magic where not everything is as it seems, and where he learns the magic formula to 'walking through walls.'
The book also provides reading comprehension material and information on ancient China and the Chinese Dragon to help children gain greater insight into the story. It's an excellent reading source for middle grade classrooms.
This is the second award Walking Through Walls received. In January 2012, it won 1st Place in the Editors and Predators Readers Poll, Children's Novel category!
