Fremont, California (PressExposure) May 27, 2013 -- Summary: Jeffrey Restuccio, the principal owner of Ritecode.com, will be the speaker a webinar that MentorHealth, a leading provider of online training for the healthcare industry, is organizing on June 27. The webinar will be on the topic, "The Art of the Audit".
This webinar is about the optimal ways of preparing for different types of audit, such as OIG, Medicare, RAC, state board and legal.
Many practice managers and providers tend to think that all audits and auditors are the same. That is not the case. This webinar will explain the differences in detail. During the course of explaining these, the speaker will offer real-life examples of ways by which to save costs tremendously on audits.
The speaker will familiarize participants with concepts such as NCCI edits, modifiers, medical necessity and local coverage determinations. He will also discuss more advanced concepts delving into carrier-specific rules and creating a carrier-specific manual. Examples, a resource list, and tips on why one clinic gets paid and another does not, will be offered.
The speaker will highlight the criticality of reporting the proper E & M codes and level to any medical practice. He will also unravel some commonly followed, but unwritten facts. One of these is that most coding certification exams do not test or cover the Medicare auditing guidelines. The other is that the guidelines are generic whereas actually auditing has many shades of gray and are open to interpretation.
The speaker will cover these areas during this session:
- 12 steps to winning carrier denial appeals
- Most common reasons that claims are denied and specific examples
- Medical necessity, modifiers, LCDs, HCPCS codes and all the fundamental concepts
- Carrier-specific rules, manual and hierarchy and concept of payment guidelines
- Appeal tips and tricks you won't learn anywhere else
