Las Vegas, NV (PressExposure) June 09, 2011 -- Where's My Lesbian, an international LGBTQ artist website, is celebrating International Drag Day (IDD) for the second year in Las Vegas on Saturday July 16, 2011 at Tommy Rockers from 7pm - 9pm. The evening will include raffles, drink specials, food, a guest performance and audience involvement. There is a suggested donation of $10.00 per person; proceeds will benefit the Sin Sity Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence AIDS Drug Assistance Program (SADAP). In Las Vegas, International Drag Day is a 21+ event, in which audience members are encouraged to come dressed in drag, and celebrate with the performing Kings and Queens.
International Drag Day was set up to give Drag Artists a well deserved chance to shine and be celebrated for everything they give to gay life and culture. It is now in its third year thanks to Adam Stewart, its founder. On the official International Drag Day website, Adam writes that on July 16th, each country is to "create events on local and even national levels, put on shows or just go out and celebrate drag". Several countries are participating including Brazil, the United Kingdom and the United States. In Las Vegas, Tommy Rockers Bar and Grill has welcomed this community celebration.
"Gay, Straight, Bi, Transgender, it seemed like the hundreds in Las Vegas community came out last year. They all just wanted to have fun and celebrate together without any worries," states Karen Plowden, developer and owner of Where's My Lesbian. "That's what the night is all about for me, one community celebrating together because we have the freedom to do so". "Who better to donate IDD proceeds to than the Sin Sity Sisters Program because they use drag to benefit our community year round," says Kim Vonganakasame, CFO, Where's My Lesbian. SADAP is designed to assist individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Southern Nevada with both short-term and long-term acquisition of prescribed medications necessary for their continued physical health and mental well-being. The program will allow these individuals to remain adherent to all their prescribed medications needs and will alleviate much of the emotional stress of monthly financial dilemmas.
About The Sin Sity Sisters:
The Sin Sity Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence exists as an order of 21st century nuns dedicated to the promulgation of universal joy and the expiation of stigmatic guilt. Their ministry is one of public manifestation and habitual perpetration. They work to raise money for their Sisters AIDS Drug Assistance Program (SADAP) and other community charities. They advocate for queer rights and visibility and conduct safer sex outreach. They also work to affirm the value and beauty of all persons and particularly within the queer community and strive diligently to keep their sense of humor, never taking their selves so seriously that they forget to have fun.
