Portland, Oregon (PressExposure) March 07, 2013 -- Wild Friends Foods, formerly Wild Squirrel Nut Butter, has a new flavor on the shelf - Sesame Cranberry, expanding the company's gourmet nut butter product line to six flavors in total. Available in either 16 oz. jars or single-serve packets, it joins the other five flavors already on the market including three peanut butters (Cinnamon Raisin, Chocolate Coconut, Honey Pretzel) and two almond butters (Chocolate Sunflower Seed and Vanilla Espresso). All the flavors are created out of natural foods with no preservatives, artificial ingredients or colors added.
The darlings of Shark Tank, Oprah Magazine, Glamour Magazine, Huffington Post, food blogs, and other media sources are expanding their two year-old business across the country. Founding their company in January 2011, these college-aged entrepreneurs are demonstrating how a small business with the right product and vision can quickly blossom into a nationwide enterprise.
It's a story everyone loves... Two college roommates, Erika and Keeley, not even 21 years-old at the time, ran out of peanut butter on a Friday night in their apartment on the campus of the University of Oregon. Eating plain celery wasn't an option, so out came the new food processor, raw peanuts, and a number of other ingredients they happened upon in their cupboards, including cinnamon, raisins, chocolate chips, coffee, and coconut.
Their college life was immediately transformed by test batches of gourmet nut butter flavors, jars, labels and deliveries around campus by bicycle. Initial samples of the all natural peanut butter were offered simply to friends, family, and UO students.
Due to its popularity, shortly thereafter they were selling at the Street Faire on campus, farmers' markets, a few local stores in Eugene and from their website. Wild Squirrel Nut.Butter was born and quickly took on a life of its own.
Now, two years later, Wild Friends Nut Butter is sold both online and in over 350 stores around the country. Current plans are to have it available in hundreds of more retail outlets within a few months.
