Astoria, New York (PressExposure) April 17, 2011 -- Wildflower Records is hosting an exclusive artist showcase for the music supervisor and licensing panels at the 42nd annual Nashville Film Festival on April 21, 2011 at the Nashville Dinner Theater. This year's featured artists, Walter Parks and Brien McVernon, are presented by Judy Collins' Wildflower Records label. The Wildflower Records releases are scheduled for this spring and summer.
Over the past three decades, Walter Parks has forged a distinctive international career as the lead guitarist for Woodstock legend Richie Havens, half of the folk-duo The Nudes, and guitarist and leader of the swamp/blues-outfit Swamp Cabbage. Over the past 20 years, Parks has enjoyed commercial and critical success with his acoustic duo, The Nudes, and with the Richie Havens trio, which he was asked to join after returning from two years in Europe. While Parks' music projects might seem to be from opposite worlds, they all express elements of his diverse background and balance integral parts of his personality.
Sydney rocker Brien McVernon began his musical career in his early teens, mentored by Australia's top studio musicians. Brien's band, The Retro Rockets, is a Rockabilly band that drew its influences from Blues, Jazz, and Latin and Roots genres. The Retro Rockets have quickly become one of Australia's beloved bands in this field, headlining festivals both in Australia and in New Zealand. Over the last 4 years Brien has shared the stage with international rockers The Alarm, Squeeze, The Fixx, Fastball, Gin Blossoms, Donovan Frankenreiter and many more. The Retro Rockets newest album, Rockets from Oz, features 14 original songs that have been written by Brien McVernon.
