Wocoski Publishes Latest Poetry Book "A Journey Through DC Land"

Gaithersburg, Maryland (PressExposure) August 26, 2011 -- A Journey Through DC Land a collection of poems about Washington DC written and illustrated by Joe Wocoski, it captures the essence of our times through the world known as Washington DC, which has an awe effect on tourists, visitors and new arrivals. All of them think that they are in "DC Land". They only see our Nation's Capital as a magic kingdom containing only the White House, the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument. This magic kingdom is expected to be inhabited by only the famous characters that are easily recognized from the nightly news.

In this book of poetry the Author breaks through the surface of this image of our Nation's Capital as a political amusement park.

The Poetry is divided into five meaningful sections:

Part I your arrival and simplistic view of DC Land with a hint of what is below the surface.

Part II your everyday commute to and from DC Land with all the rides available to you.

Part III where you yourself become one of the many characters living and working in DC Land.

Part IV takes you deeper into the meaning of our Nation's Capital, and our existence.

Part V is about those who live on all our streets, most of not looked at or worse ignored.

The Epilogue is on how our world turned upside down on 911

The Epilogue is that one moment of silence that stopped all of us dead in our tracks in DC Land. It was the one moment in time that brought all of us together into a new reality of the world around us. The moment so many of us stopped and looked up into the heavens and asked, "Why?" Just like so many others. On that day September 11, 2001 he could see in the distance the black clouds of smoke billowing over DC Land, from the Pentagon building. Remember being worried sick about your friends working there, and not knowing whether they were dead or alive.

The author digitally created all the black and white silhouette art works in this book from photographs he took over the years in Washington DC. The Epilogue image is an original art work created to honor those lost at the Twin Towers in New York.

A Journey Through DC Land by Joe Wocoski is now available on Amazon.
