Writers in the Sky Marches on with More Podcast Guests

Nashville, TN (PressExposure) April 14, 2008 -- The show is all over the Internet. If you do a Google search for “Writers in the Sky Podcast” the results will return more than nine pages of links mentioning more than 70 shows archived on this author’s blog. Using author interviews as the format, book lovers get first-hand book reviews as the author and podcast host share the story line of a new book each week on Writers in the Sky (WITS) Podcast. Authors who are seeking publication or book marketing ideas will not be disappointed. One of the standard questions asked of the author is, “Will you please share your publishing and marketing experience with us?”

Each author is screened using a submission process that involves a query to include: author’s bio, book synopsis, and a short statement of why you want to be on the show and what you can offer to WITS listeners.

Even though a small fee is charged to cover the expense of the podcast, the show is very popular among authors. The show is booked through May 2008. Those who want to be on WITS Podcast may appreciate having the lead time to prepare. Authors normally plan their marketing several months in advance. Many times this includes a blog tour, which can be arranged with Nikki Leigh (February 2008 podcast guest) to coincide with the podcast interview. When asked about the fee charge to authors, Yvonne Perry, the owner of Writers in the Sky Creative Writing Services, replied, “It takes several hours to prepare, conduct, and market the podcast. The fee allows me to break even on the production costs. As long I can do this, I will continue to offer information to our listeners.” There is no fee to listen to the podcast either on iTunes or the WITS blog.

“I try to have a wide variety of people on the show. This means bringing in people from all backgrounds, beliefs and walks of life—even if they differ from my own,” says Yvonne Perry, one of the show’s hosts. “One week we may interview a self-published Christian author; the next week we may have an atheist, who published with a major publishing house. We also have publishers, editors, and book publicists on the show. I love the diversity because it offers something for everyone and keeps things interesting.” The March podcast lineup offers four new shows with information that is sure to interest people who love to read and writers who hope to be published, as well as those who need ideas about how to market their book. March 7 –Author Barbara Techel shares her children’s book Frankie, the Walk ‘n Roll Dog—a true, inspirational story about a dachshund whose life started out just like any other dog walking on all four paws until a spinal injury leaves her paralyzed. Frankie is custom fit for a wheelchair and learns to keep on rolling.

March 14 –Monica “Dr. Moe” Anderson, DDS is an author, publisher, motivational speaker, and Doctor of Dental Surgery. In 1996, she became the first African-American columnist for the Arlington Star-Telegram. Dr. Moe is the former host of Perpetual Moe-tion, a weekly cable television talk show. Find out how her latest book, I Stand Accused impacted her life, personally and professionally.

March 21 –Dottie Randazzo, the author of 15 books including Are you a Spiritual Hypochondriac? Dottie will discuss her books and her publishing experience with Lulu.com.
