Nashville, TN (PressExposure) October 08, 2008 -- Itâs one of those things that have to be done if you want to stay at the top of search enginesâredoing your Web site. It can mean just a tweak and change in the code that search engines read, but for Yvonne Perry and her companyâs Web site it was a matter of refocusing business priorities as well optimizing for search engines.
We have a lot of things to offer those who visit our site even if they arenât looking to have us edit their book or write their article,â says Perry, the owner of Writers in the Sky Creative Writing Services. âThose things were getting lost in the shuffle; the new design brings all our features into a more organized focus and provides a user-friendly way to find things on the site.â
There are more pages, more information, and more direction on the new site as visitors drill down to discover the back pages that feature projects being worked on by the team of freelance writers and editor, the bios and photos of the WITS team, and a resource page that supports the companyâs network of affiliates.
Writers in the Sky (WITS) is no stranger to change as it has grown over the years. Yvonne started the company in 2003 as a solo freelance writer, calling the business Write On! Creative Writing Services and using the domain name yvonneperry.net. In 2005, a newsletter by the name of Writers in the Sky was launched and quickly became a favorite among writers and authors who were seeking information about the craft and business of writing. When a blog and podcast by the same name followed in 2006, more people in her network began referring to the company as Writers in the Sky than Write On. The old adage, âif you canât beat them, join themâ came into play and Yvonne changed the name of her company in October 2007 to reflect the preference of her growing community. Thatâs when she purchased a new domain name, writersinthesky.com, and began directing it to her hosted site, all the while realizing that the URL pointer and main host would one day need to be swapped. Writers in the Sky is a legally trademarked name registered with the US Patent & Trademark Office, so itâs unlikely that the company name will change again.
Working with an undisclosed technical guru and the support team at Godaddy.com, the well-planned switch went over with very little interruption of service to the site, which is now on a Linux server.
Yvonne and her team invite people to come take a look at [http://www.writersinthesky.com] and see all the changes. Sign up for the monthly newsletter, listen to a podcast, or network on the blog.
