York, United Kingdom (PressExposure) February 09, 2009 -- Webmasters and Web Designers can now source high quality images for use on websites or other projects free of charge and needing only to attribute the image to the original author or to the source site. Artists and photographers can make their work available via a Creative Commons License to gain exposure for their work. More details can be found at Yorkshire Web Design.
Managing Partner Steve Allanson said âAs a photographer myself I am always looking for ways to gain exposure for my images and as a webmaster I am always looking for high quality images to use on our sites and client sites. We spend £thousands on images and the aim of this scheme is to create both an outlet for artists and photographers and at the same time reduce costs for webmasters and designersâ.
The use of a Creative Commons License from http://creativecommons.org allows images to be used or altered in any way and distributed in any way as long as the original artists attribution remains with derivative or collective images or works. This creates a win win situation where artists gain exposure and webmasters and others can access high quality works.
Anyone wishing to upload images should register at [http://www.designtoeclipse.co.uk] and they can then upload images to the site. All images are vetted before being listed and the site has a clear policy of not listing pornographic or offensive material. In addition all images listed will have been checked for quality. All images are offered free of charge. There is no requirement to register to download images.
The company has several thousand images available which will be added to the service over the next few weeks and this will be expanded by images from other artists as they become aware of the service.
