There is one woman behind ATAHRA. Her story is one of adversity, dedication, and perseverance. Though her life has been a difficult one, she endeavors not to show it. She embraces that hardship, harnessing it and sculpting it into effervescent positivity. She reclaims the direction of her own life and invites us to do the same. She remembers that life is the party that you make it, and uses the chaos to find inner peace. A celebration of duality in beautiful contradiction that can't be ignored. In this way, ATAHRA is more than one artist - she is a movement. Join her.

Atahra also has an extensive Musical Theatre background performing in New York's Broadway and Off Broadway theatre scene as "Maria" in West Side Story and Singing with the cast of Hairspray and Wicked just to name a few. That is where she learned to hone her voice. She also performed in many benefits singing along with Ben Vereen, Andrea Marcovicci and working with Joel Seigal, Maury Povich and Connie Chung. Though Musical Theatre was an outlet Atahra's true passion was for singing original music. " Hearing something you created is magical. To think it came from an idea, a burst of inspiration, an outpouring of emotions and have it turn into something that can be shared forever is beautiful."

Atahra's songwriting stems from challenges in her life. Being raised in a single parent home and orphaned by the age of fifteen, she had no one to turn to. She learned to live on her own and fend for herself. Music was the one and only true escape for her. "Every time I feel pain and joy I write and sing. That's how i can best express myself. Even though life was hard and I felt like giving up sometimes I knew there was something keeping me going, and that was always my passion for music. Music saved my life and continues to enrich my soul everyday."

Atahra's performed at places such as The Webster Hall Grand Ballroom, The Cutting Room, The Iguana Club, The Copacabana, The Lighthouse, National Underground, The Supper Club to name a few. Her Proudest accomplishments are winning praise from VH1, being named "Suggested Artist" of the year and being featured on the front page of the New York Times Arts section.

Fast Forward to present day Atahra has transformed into a vibrant, smart and edgy artist. Her latest project "American Gangster" includes guitar from Glassjaw's original guitarist Todd Weinstock. Atahra, Weinstock and Bez are also all in the Production / Songwriting trio Team Whooopiii, who's song hit the the Top 100 Billboard charts in 2013.
