Hawthorne, NJ (PressExposure) September 15, 2009 -- For the second straight year Akadema Inc and LI Ducks have combined efforts with a "Pink Bat" auction during the game on Tuesday night, September 8, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Bidding runs through Saturday, September 19, which will be fans last chance to bid on the game-worn pink and white jerseys of their favorite Ducks players and game-used pink bats. "We could not think of a more noteworthy cause than raising money for breast cancer awareness" said Kris Totten Akadema VP Sales.
Bids started at $75 and will be raised in $10 increments for both jerseys and bats. The auction will end during the 7th inning on Saturday, September 19. Fans interested in bidding can do so by visiting the auction table located inside the Waddle In Shop. The final bids will be taken at the conclusion of the visitors' half of the seventh inning of the September 19 game, with winners to be announced later the same evening.
"We have had tremendous success with this auction in the past and have helped to not only raise awareness, but funds for local breast cancer organizations," said Ducks' General Manager Mike Pfaff. "Just like our Patriotic Jerseys, these pink jerseys and pink bats are one-of-a-kind and great pieces of Ducks' memorabilia that can't be found anywhere else."
All of the net proceeds from the auction will be split amongst breast cancer awareness organizations across Long Island. All donations are tax deductible.
