Montgomery, AL (PressExposure) February 14, 2011 -- Annual convention brings together thousands of area families and experts to discuss the latest trends in homeschooling.
This week the Home Educators Encouragement Alliance announced the Alabama Homeschool Expo scheduled for Montgomery Convention Center April 8-9, 2011.
A number of top homeschool experts will share the latest trends and findings in homeschooling with thousands of families and individuals throughout Alabama and neighboring states. The Expo serves to give homeschool families fresh ideas, homeschool products, and educational and entertaining services children enjoy.
Those involved in the homeschool movement also look forward to meeting new people and reconnecting with old friends. "People who attend always tell me they get a big creative and motivational recharge from attending the Homeschool Expo," said Randi St. Denis, Director of the Home Educators Encouragement Alliance, who is an educational psychologist and homeschool mom.
Homeschooling is a recognized and legal option in all 50 U.S. states. There are an estimated 2 Million children in homeschool with a large percentage in Alabama. Parents often choose homeschool for their children to achieve better test results, higher quality education, and to have more control over the quality and type of values taught their children.
"As we all know, public schools have serious problems and private schools tend to be quite expensive. Home schooling is a logical and exciting option for many parents who want the best for their children," St. Denis said. She homeschooled her seven children and the older six have gone on to attend college.
Featured speakers at the 2011 Alabama Homeschool Expo include:
* Homeschool dad and speaker Kirk Martin and family. Martin is a popular and widely known trainer to teachers, author of four books, and has been featured in USA Today, The Washington Post, on Chicago''s WGN-TV.
