An Interview With Michael Dehn, Group Exhibitions Director, Epoc Messe Frankfurt About Beautyworld Middle East 2013

Dubai, India (PressExposure) May 27, 2013 -- Beautyworld Middle East is one of your largest exhibitions, could you explain what makes it a leading event?

Beautyworld Middle East has today grown into a world-leading trade extravaganza for the beauty and wellness industry. There are a number of reasons for this. From the beginning we have tried to reflect the unique requirements of the regional market and match them to international suppliers and manufacturers. That we have succeeded in doing so, is borne out by the tremendous growth in size and scale of Beautyworld Middle East today.

Additionally we are fortunate to be based in Dubai, the business and commercial heart of the Middle East region, which is reputed for its keen attention to beauty and wellbeing and a preference for premium products of the highest quality. We are also backed by the expertise and support of global exhibition and conference leaders Messe Frankfurt, who are reputed worldwide for highly targeted and effective trade events. All these factors have ensured that Beautyworld Middle East today attracts the cream of the international beauty and wellbeing industries as well as trade visitors and buyers from across the wider Middle East, Central Asia and Africa regions.

How is Beautyworld Middle East 2013 looking in comparison to previous editions?

Beautyworld Middle East 2013 is well set to record growth in both exhibitor participation as well as expected visitor numbers as interest in the global beauty industry continues to increase and Dubai continues to grow as a central hub for the industry. Return exhibitors are taking as much as 33% more space and we are already sold out, with a waiting list, for the 2013 edition which promises to be a fruitful exhibition. By conservative estimates, the current edition should open at least 10% larger than the previous one.

Where is this growth coming from?

This year we have seen a strong surge in regional participation as well as continued interest from international manufacturers, suppliers and service providers. Be Connected one of the largest salon suppliers in the region has signed up as the biggest single exhibitor in the show's 17 year history with a 300 sqm stand where the specialist brand KOKO NAIL will reveal its newest collection for 2013. There is a wide selection of leading brands targeting the region with strong representation from the US, France, Italy, Spain, Turkey and Germany to name a few. Last year we had 51 countries represented and it will be similar this year.

What would you say are key focus areas for exhibitors and trade visitors in this edition?

While many of our first time exhibitors are looking to introduce their products to the market, other more long term exhibitors will be here to reinforce their market presence as well as explore more avenues of opportunity. A large number of our exhibitors will be looking to develop solid business partnerships for their products. Meanwhile, our visitors, who range from buyers, distributors, manufacturers and retailers, to government agencies and trade associations will be seeking out new products and services available in the market.

The show also presents an opportunity for both exhibitors and visitors to stay abreast of the competition and of the latest industry trends. Beautyworld Middle East has truly become a must attend event for the global beauty industry and we are sure the key global industry players will be present at the show in Dubai in May, be it as exhibitors or visitors.

In general, we expect keen interest in the traditionally strong areas such as fragrances, hair care, skin care and colour cosmetics. Research by our Knowledge Partner Euromonitor International, expects the UAE market for colour cosmetics to grow at 35% between 2009 and 2014, when it is expected to be worth around US$2.3 billion. The UAE skin care market is also set to grow at a steady 5% CAGR to reach US$141.64 million by 2015. There is also considerable interest in the up and coming natural and organic beauty products segment.

What can we expect in terms of special features at Beautyworld Middle East 2013?

There will be a range of special features at Beautyworld Middle East which are expected to attract strong interest from trade visitors and buyers. They include the Walk of Beauty by Madi International, featuring the most talented professional hairdressers and make-up artists from the GCC; Nail It! By OPI, a popular nail competition brought to you by Nazih Trading. Other features include Face It! a professional make-up competition; Hair Education, a professional hairdressing demonstration; and Tone It! - a series of presentations and workshops by representatives from Pantone on colour trends in cosmetics and fashion as well as the colour development industry, tone trends of the future and the like.

Making its Middle East debut will be Elements, a curated fragrance and design show which has established itself as the premier U.S. meeting ground for industry leaders, buyers and brands within the niche fragrance category. They will be featuring a number of top tier brands including Cire Trudon, Illuminum, Bond No. 9, Legart Forschungsatelier, Yosh, Atelier Flou, Nuhi and Mona di Orio, to name a few. The Elements showcase will be positioned in a dedicated section devoted to premium brands at the show.

Finally, Organic Monitor will present a two-day Natural Cosmetics Masterclass on Green Certification and Business Openings while the Spa and Salon Management Summit will continue to be popular from regional business representatives and professionals.
