Astoria, New York (PressExposure) June 24, 2011 -- In what has got to be one of the most exciting challenges ever faced by songwriters, the singer/songwriting duo of AndrewVictoria rose to the occasion to win the "Deva" award in the recent H24 Music Challenge: songwriters from Hamilton, Ontario were given the challenge of writing a song in 24 hours, adhering to 3 strict criteria: the song had to revolve around the theme of "waking up"; it had to somehow incorporate a musical element of either knocking or clapping; and it had to include a line that couldn't be changed in any way.
Contestants received the criteria exactly 24 hours before they had to perform it at a local popular singer/songwriter venue, the Casbar, in Hamilton, on June 17, 2011. Eight talented songwriters ranging from solo acts to a full high school band, put on a diverse show of songwriting with 8 very different interpretations of the criteria.
But it was AndrewVictoria who took home the "Deva", to tremendous applause for their song titled "Repeat Yesterday". The judges felt the song fulfilled all criteria perfectly, while lauding Victoria's "gorgeous voice" and Andrew's "great guitar work". AndrewVictoria have since recorded an acoustic version of this song which will be available soon on both their website and on their YouTube page at [http://youtube.com/andrewvictoriamusic] where one can view live performances of several other new songs not yet listed on their primary website.
There is also video from the H24 event, which includes a segment of AndrewVictoria's winning performance, the judges comments and the awarding of the "Deva" at this YouTube link: http://youtu.be/VqWcORFXg7M
This latest win is the third songwriting recognition scored by AndrewVictoria since March when their song, "It's Not Over" won first place in Songwriter Universe's Song of the Month Competition. That was followed in April by winning first runner-up in the Arts for Progress: Clash of the Artist's Contest for their song, "Spontaneously Combust". Both songs can be heard on their personal website.
