Sturtevant, WI (PressExposure) November 25, 2009 -- A Yuletide Letter from the Purfekt Family - and Other Holiday Hogwash
Apple Holler is introducing an uplifting revue that takes a candid and knowing look at a seasonal tradition - the family holiday letter. A Yuletide Letter from the Purfekt Family - and Other Holiday Hogwash, an Apple Holler original musical production, is being presented as part of the intimate dinner theatre experience that Apple Holler is becoming well known for.
The idea behind this fun family show was the collaborative effort of Apple Holler's: Entertainment Director, Heather Clayton; performer and Costume Manager, Caitlin Kujawski; and Special Projects Manager, Sheri Gavin. "We wanted to create a family-friendly, musical show that would take a look at family life, as well as the holidays, and find the humor in them. At the same time, we wanted to remember the true meaning of family, love and the holidays," says Clayton.
Mary Purfekt, the over-stressed and exhausted mother of the Purfekt Family, is writing their very first Holiday Letter. With the hard, cold facts of family-life-reality being less than ideal, Mary's creative side begins to show itself in the telling of the past year's events. Witty sketches, favorite traditional seasonal songs and clever parodies, bring Mary's stories to life while sometimes exposing the reality behind them.
"The rush of the holiday season can be so stressful we end up losing sight of what's important," says Dave Flannery, owner of the Apple Holler Family Farm. "However, by gently poking fun at the holiday letter and the little things that make life a bit difficult, we aim to take everyone's mind off the hectic nature of this season and remind families of the joy it can bring.
The menu for A Yuletide Letter from the Purfekt Family reminds one of family dinners in Wisconsin. It features Wisconsin wine and cheese tasting, Corn Bread & Apple Butter, Grandma's Dinner Salad with Homemade Dressing, Roast Turkey, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Apple Stuffing, Sweet Potato Casserole, Apple Sauce and Apple Pie with Cinnamon ice cream. The price of $44.99 per person includes wine and cheese, full-course meal with beverage and dessert, tax, tip, and the show.
Celebrating the season with this amusing dinner theatre experience is certain to make you laugh, cry and relieve some holiday stress, so that by the 12th day of Christmas you still: care what your true love gives to you, believe that every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings and want to hear the little drummer boy going, "Pa-rum-pa-pum-pum," on his drum.
