New York, NY (PressExposure) July 17, 2014 -- Apptimized, a B2B-oriented tech start-up with offices in the US and UK, had its official launch this week. The company is pioneering a Cloud-based technology which promises to simplify and speed up the process of application packaging via a 'self-service counter' model.
Used for software deployments in business environments, application packaging works by placing standard applications into custom-built installer programs. The resulting 'packaged application' enables fast, dialog-free installation across multiple computers. Packaged apps are in increasingly widespread use in business IT, and an estimated 50,000 experts worldwide are active in this niche.
However, the process of commissioning packaged applications is generally regarded as slow and labour-intensive. Traditional packaging operations typically involve weeks or months of intensive dialog between client, consultant and solution provider before completed packages can be approved for final rollout.
"We think everyone in the industry needs to take a fresh look at the way they do things," comments Apptimized CEO Vincent Weberink. "Time-to-deployment is the biggest concern. Taking a month or two to get a package ready for installation might have been acceptable back when software patches and updates were an annual event. Now that we see security patches coming out every month, it's not OK."
Weberink continues: "IT managers in SMBs really have to deal with lots of challenges to keep their software secure and up-to-date. They struggle with the process because it ties up so much manpower and is so complicated. With our system, that's no longer the case. Using our self-service counter model and web-enabled interface, IT managers can now create high-quality custom packages for themselves using nothing more complex than a browser."
Mathias Baumann, Apptimized CTO, outlines how the company has leveraged Cloud-enabled technology to make application packaging more accessible. "Full configuration via browser and real-time delivery using sophisticated automation are self-explanatory, but to realize those ideas we had to really push the familiar SaaS model," he says. "We had our first live tests in late 2013 and knew right away that Apptimized was something special. Packages that our system built in a few minutes were as good as equivalents that had taken weeks to produce via conventional packaging processes, and in many cases better. The potential savings in time and money are enormous, and it's so easy to use that now anyone can get packaged applications built to their own requirements... without needing to develop any special skills."
