Barrie, Canada (PressExposure) August 01, 2011 -- The bakermewting.com website is up and running. Bakermewting.com is on of several demonstration sites being built by Georgian College web design students enrolled in Drew Dekker's Web Analytics and Marketing course. Bakermewting is a word coined by Dekker, an anagram of the phrase Web Marketing. Dekker issued an assignment to test students' ability to apply web marketing techniques and SEO principles in a near real-world situation. Because Bakermewting is an unknown word and isn't yet recognized by Google, it allows students a fresh start to see if they can build a website focusing on Bakermewting that can be easily found by Google.
Students can interpret or present the term Bakermewting in any context they choose. Tom Stewart, the student who developed bakermewting.com chose to let the Bakermewting stand for the Bakermewting Web Marketing & SEO Challenge.
Students are encouraged to use a number of modern marketing and SEO techniques to reach the goal of creating the top-ranking site on Google for the term bakermewting. Some of the techniques that are being employed to market the demonstration sites and make them SEO friendly include:
Use Google AdWords keyword promotion using a $75 credit available at no charge.
Issue online press releases to promote our sites using a number of suggested sites.
Use social media such as Facebook and Twitter to promote the sites.
Develop relevant content for inclusion in the websites.
Include appropriate meta data on our sites.
Tweak html elements such as headings etc.
Use internal links.
Attempt to obtain as many good external links as possible.
Use Google Webmaster tools to fine tune site.
Another wrinkle in the assignment is Dekker's employee, Nathan. Dekker operates a web development company in Barrie, where Nathan works. Dekker is assigning the same project to Nathan, albeit while giving the students a head start in terms of timing. Nathan, an experienced web developer, has been given the assignment of beating Drew Dekker's Web Marketing and Analytics course students in the Bakermewting Web Marketing & SEO challenge. The good part about Nathan's participation in the Bakermewting Web Marketing & SEO Challenge is that if Nathan's website doesn't deliver better SERP results than the top student, that student gets $30. That's in addition to the extra 10% that the top student gets for his or her efforts in the Bakermewting challenge.
