Jacksonville, FL (PressExposure) July 04, 2011 -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Inc. (BCBSF) has named the PACE Center for Girls the June winner of its The Pursuit social media campaign. The PACE Center for Girls is a community-based, gender-responsive prevention, diversion and early intervention program serving girls, ages 12-17, in 17 locations across Florida.
Designed to highlight and reward non-profit organizations that assist Floridians in their pursuit of health, each month BCBSF's The Pursuit campaign features three philanthropic organizations on the company's Facebook Fan page that have created new health, wellness, educational or social empowerment opportunities for underserved communities throughout the state. Florida residents are then invited to vote for the non-profit that most resonates with them. BCBSF awards $3,000 to the non-profit with the most votes, and give the runners-up $1,000 each.
Organizations being featured in the month of July include:
American Red Cross - The nation's premier emergency response organization offering neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war and devastating natural disasters. Over the years, the organization has expanded its services to include: community services that help the needy; support for military members and their families; the collection, processing and distribution of lifesaving blood and blood products; educational programs that promote health and safety; and international relief and development programs.
Florida Holocaust Museum - Honors the memory of millions of innocent men, women and children who suffered or died in the Holocaust. The Museum is dedicated to teaching the members of all races and cultures the inherent worth and dignity of human life in order to prevent future genocides.
USO -Helping our servicemen and women, and their families, the USO provides a tangible way for Americans to say thank you to our troops through a variety of programs and entertainment events.
