Delhi, India (PressExposure) November 16, 2009 -- PRESS RELEASE
Mr Shiv Khera, the internationally renowned motivational speaker has authored a series of books on character building, citizenship and life skills for school- children. The series covers eight levels, i.e. Classes 1 to 8. At the primary level the series is titled Little Leaders and at the middle-school level it is called Young Leaders.
Published by Macmillan Publishers India Ltd., the entire series attempts to launch a healthy dialogue between the adult and the child on topics pertinent to their immediate surroundings, community awareness, environmental issues, emotional needs etc.
Having addressed diverse audiences across the gamut of corporates, other professionals, homemakers, students and children, Mr Shiv Khera has made it a point to cover every little aspect of growing up pains as well as the qualities a child should imbibe to become a leader in the circle he or she operates.
The instructional material covered in Little Leaders / Young Leaders is both parent and teacher friendly and creates leaders for tomorrow.
Having already published Mr Shiv Khera's You Can Win, Living with Honour and Freedom is not Free, Macmillan Publishers India is now happy to publish this new series for schoolchildren authored by him.
The series was jointly released by Mrs Goldy Malhotra and Mr S L Jain at an elegant function at New Delhi in the august presence of principals of several schools and other eminent educationists. Mrs Goldy Malhotra is Principal, Modern School, Vasant Vihar, and the current president of National Progressive Schools' Conference. Mr S L Jain is Principal, Mahavir Senior Model School, and is the immediate past president of NPSC.
The New Series of Books for School Children Little Leaders and Young Leaders It appears as though the nuclear family, as an emerging social concept, is here to stay. In addition to this, today's young parents aspire to a lifestyle that is affordable only with two incomes. This generation is not fortunate enough to have the eyes of the ever-vigilant grandparents on them either. Growing up in these circumstances, children access information from unsupervised sources and get thoroughly confused. It is unsettling to note that universal values are viewed with disrespect by some children. The crime rate among young people is on the rise, while the average age at which the first crime is committed is coming down.
In this scenario, no stakeholder in the community can afford to merely stand by and watch. Parents and teachers need help in their struggle to raise responsible citizens. This path-breaking series of books on character building and citizenship titled Little Leaders for Classes 1 to 5 and Young Leaders for Classes 6 to 8 will do just that ? inspire young people to imbibe precious values that build character and foster good citizenship.
Character building and citizenship may not have been directly included in the curriculum guidelines given by the national education council as topics to be taught, but there is no doubt about the far-reaching implications in case of ignoring them. As responsible and socially conscious publishers, Macmillan Publishers India have taken it upon ourselves to develop this series by no less than the internationally renowned author and educator -- Shiv Khera.
Shiv Khera believes that every walk of life needs leaders and that leaders can be made. A strong leader can inspire people to contribute to society. A strong leader can motivate good citizens to protect the weak and fight evil. The author requests the parents to actively participate in this important task as our objective cannot be achieved without their active cooperation. Every chapter features a note to the parents from the author requesting them to join hands with him in implementing his simple suggestions. Any conflict between what is advocated through this course and the home environment will dilute this effort.
While the author's objective is to channelise the thinking process, his approach is suggestive to the reader. The reader is free to evaluate the suggestions and accept / internalise them if he/she feels that the suggestions stand to reason. The unique feature of this series is that it gives children plenty of opportunity to question, discuss and arrive at conclusions at each stage of development in the series. The way discussions are structured, we have no doubts at all that the children will walk away with the most robust inputs to grow up to be contributing, productive adults, demonstrating values like integrity, honesty and respect, to shape our nation into a force that we always dreamed of.
Little Leaders and Young Leaders opens channels of communication between the child and the adult. The message for the child is not prescriptive; it is descriptive. The spirit of the series is central to the thought process of the child at the target age group.
The Author Shiv Khera is the founder of Qualified Systems Inc. USA and Country First, a non-profit trust. An educator, business consultant and successful entrepreneur, he is a much sought-after speaker.
He inspires and informs people, helping to realise their true potential. His messages stress upon the importance of individual and national character. He has taken his dynamic personal message to opposite sides of the globe, from the US to Singapore. His common sensical approach and deeply held beliefs have motivated countless thousands to re-evaluate their attitudes.
