Bristol, United Kingdom (PressExposure) January 10, 2010 -- Bristol, the largest city in the South West of England, is a thriving center for web design agencies and creative industries and it has recently been announced that the Top 100 creative companies in the region have a combined turnover of 0.5 Billion pounds per year.
The South West of the UK is undisputed as one of Europe's leading creative hubs, home to world quality TV production agencies, award-winning marketing and digital agencies, internationally renowned animation companies such as Aardman animations and major publishing companies. The Bristol creative media scene stems partly from it being one of the original bases for the BBC with its world famous 'Natural History Unit' being housed at Whiteladies Road in the city. Many TV and post-production companies have sprung up over the past few decades many of them started by ex BBC staff and created to supply the BBC in the city.
The Top 100 South West Creative Companies League Table - 2009, supported by Bristol Media (the regions largest hub/website for the local creative communities), showed an astounding 0.5 billion pounds of combined turnover from companies featured in the league table. The Top 100 guide was the first survey of all the major TV, digital, publishing, PR, design and marketing companies from across the region collated into one list, ranked by turnover.
Although 2009 was a financially difficult year for many companies, the sector has continued to thrive and expand and 2010 is looking like an optimistic year for the Bristol and South West creative and web design industries.
