British Standard Cupboards Enjoys A Successful First Quarter

London, United Kingdom (PressExposure) July 31, 2012 -- The new, affordable kitchen company, BRITISH STANDARD, has had a busy first few months in business; commencing with the launch of the brand at the Ideal Home Show in March, and culminating in the opening of their first showroom at the beginning of July, this quarter has generated a flurry of activity, both in sales and press.

Managing Director, Tony Niblock, puts the current good fortune down to a demand for good manufacturing and provenance. "People going through the process of buying a kitchen will always look for a well-made, long-lasting product, irrespective of their budget; the initial interest in BRITISH STANDARD shows that customers don't mind being more hands-on when it comes to the planning and fitting of their project, if it means they can then afford a quality kitchen as a result."

BRITISH STANDARD, (the off-shoot company of bespoke cupboard makers, Plain English), has designed a modest yet versatile range of off-the-shelf kitchen cupboards & worktops, available only from their website. Despite initial apprehensions that the brand could be seen to compromise its parent company through the difference in cost (kitchens start from £5,000), the limited range of cupboard sizes and options available with BRITISH STANDARD, as well as the service provided (see Editor's Notes), firmly separates the two brands. The collection has allowed those who could not afford the £50,000 Plain English price tag, the opportunity to own something similar, and of the same quality.

"Craftsmanship shouldn't be the preserve of those with money. Honest joinery and properly made cupboards with design integrity, made by skilled joiners, are a joy to live with; they last many years longer than those found in a DIY kitchen, and they don't have to cost the earth." (Katie Fontana, Creative Director).

About British Standard:

BRITISH STANDARD is a collection of 40 standard-sized cupboards, available in one design and colour ('Broken White'). If an alternative colour is required, customers can repaint the cupboards themselves. Ironmongery is not included and customers have to plan and purchase their kitchens on the BRITISH STANDARD website. Collection and fitting of the cupboards is the responsibility of the customer. BRITISH STANDARD provides floor cupboards, tall cupboards, worktops & upstands for kitchens at their online shop or at their London showroom.
