Calling All New York City Brides for FREE Cake Tasting

New York, NY (PressExposure) June 30, 2011 -- CharLena Pearson-Fulcher and Weddings at Riverside at world renown The Riverside Church of New York, team up for The Wedding Cake Taste-Off, Sunday 10 July 2011. Author, CharLena Pearson-Fulcher presents book selections and undiscovered wedding cake bakers to brides. Author wants to highlight bakers in business 10 years or less giving brides and couples budgetary options for their wedding cake. Ms. Pearson-Fulcher has recently completed her wedding book: New York City Budget Weddings, Elegant and Affordable, which spotlights ways wedding couples can stay within budget and still have the wedding of their dreams.

Having enjoyed the preparation process, Ms. Pearson-Fulcher continued reading about weddings, specifically in New York wedding magazines. Just 3 short years ago, there were not many wedding magazines specific to New York. Ms. Pearson-Fulcher kept notes during the preparation process for her own wedding and decided to write about budgetary wedding planning in New York City. One of the major price points of the wedding, can be the cake. Many times the wedding couple must pay for the tastings made as they decide on which baker and what flavor cake to purchase for their reception. Both of which can be costly and time consuming endeavors. To announce her new book and to help the brides it seemed a natural step, to have a fun and tasty event. And that is how this event came into being.

Ms. Pearson-Fulcher 's book tells how to stay within anyone's wedding budget for under $15,000, within New York City's five boroughs. How does a wedding couple do that? Think outside of the box. Be original and adventurous. Give your wedding your personal signature. "When we were planning our wedding, almost 7 years ago, we kept running into opposition from various people within the wedding industry who said our budget was too impossibly low. They said I would have to expand it. At that time the average cost in New York City was $35,000 (in 2011-$50,000) and my budget was well under $10,000 but I told them that I knew I could stay within my budget. Our final cost including our honeymoon was $8,000 and we were still able to have the wedding event of our dreams", says Ms. Pearson-Fulcher. "And that is why I have written this book for the wedding couple. It still can be done!"

The Wedding Cake Taste-Off takes place from 2 pm - 5:30 pm at The Riverside Church, 91 Claremont Avenue, (between Broadway/Riverside at 121st Street) in Manhattan.
