Columbus Metropolitan Tennis Organization Opens 2014 Registration

Columbus, OH (PressExposure) March 29, 2014 -- Registration for Ohio's largest LGBT tennis organization has opened to kick-off their 29th season. Columbus Metropolitan Tennis Organization (CMTO) offers singles and doubles tennis options of all skill levels for LGBT people, and their allies. The 2014 schedule of play will run from May through August

The CMTO league offers beginner, intermediate and advanced skill leagues for both singles and doubles tennis. The league provides a Round Robin format that provides a weekly schedule of play with opponents of a similar skill level. In addition, the league also provides a Challenge Ladder option for both singles and doubles players. This allows players to compete in as many matches as they would like each month, at a timeframe that fits their schedule. The Columbus Metropolitan Tennis Organization (CMTO) is pleased to announce that Columbus, Ohio will host their third annual GLTA Tournament. The "Columbus Classic 2014" will be held May 9-11, 2014 at the beautiful outdoor courts of The Ohio State University.

CMTO was founded back in 1973, inspired by the famous "Battle of the Sexes" tennis match of Billie Jean King against Bobby Riggs. The organization began with a handful of tennis enthusiasts in the LGBT community. Today, the organization boasts about 100 players from the LGBT community . . . and their allies. CMTO also draws the interest of players outside of Ohio, with participants residing in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Dayton.
