Companies Advised To 'Drive Smart To Reduce Carbon Emissions'

London, United Kingdom (PressExposure) February 15, 2009 -- Companies can reduce their carbon footprint and save themselves thousands of pounds by adopting smarter driving techniques, one organisation believes. In the opinion of the Energy Saving Trust, many firms are choosing to implement smarter driving techniques along with teleconferencing to save themselves money and help the environment.

As a result, a company with a fleet of a hundred vehicles could save itself #163;90,000 - something which may come in very handy during the current financial downturn.Offering some advice on how people can improve their driving technique, Robbie McKinnon from the Energy Saving Trust suggested changing through gears earlier and remaining in high gears as long as possible. `On average this could save you about 15 per cent or about #163;250 a year on fuel,` he explained.According to the Energy Saving Trust, around three million company cars emit 16 million tonnes of carbon emissions every year.
