Deaf People Can Do Anything But Hear

London, Surrey United Kingdom (PressExposure) December 19, 2006 -- LOOK AT ME coffee table book educates and inspires

“Deaf people can do anything but hear”. This is one of many inspirational and insightful messages featured in a unique and beautifully designed Deaf Awareness coffee table book newly released by renowned international Deaf advocate Lisa Mills.

LOOK AT ME features short universal messages about deafness, deaf people, Deaf Community and Deaf Culture. On each page is a striking image of Deaf and mainstream Indian Culture, taken while Lisa was delivering a successful Arts and Culture for Development project throughout South India.

“My book is for everyone: young or old, people with and without deaf family, friends or acquaintances,” said LOOK AT ME author Lisa Mills.

The delightful Deaf Awareness book, which is the only one of its kind, aims for readers to gain a positive insight into the world of deaf people. As a bonus, the book is a visual treat and has been designed to be very reader-friendly so everyone may learn about deafness.

“Knowledge leads to understanding which in turn encourages better communication between deaf and hearing people. As such deaf people are empowered to lead more fulfilling lives,” Lisa said.

Deaf since birth and fluent in both spoken English and British Sign Language, Lisa Mills is a highly renowned visual theatre director for deaf and hearing youth in the UK and for deaf youth in developing countries such as Africa and India. She is also a trainer in Deaf Awareness, Sign Language and nonverbal communication for community and corporate groups.

LOOK AT ME is best placed on the coffee table to share with family, friends, colleagues and customers. Enjoy!
