Dover, NJ (PressExposure) June 16, 2011 -- Internationally exhibited artist David Derr returns to ArtWalk in Nyack, NY for the fourth consecutive year from June 17 through June 19. Throughout the village, 29 stores will be transformed into mini art galleries with the artists in residence. Mr. Derr will be situated at Eyevolution Optique at 42 South Franklin Street.
The show's theme is "A Tribute to Edward Hopper," honoring the acclaimed artist as well as the 40th anniversary of Edward Hopper House Art Center. Always a popular event on the spring art schedule, Mr. Derr will be showcasing a variety of original works in various disciplines including oil, oil on linen, oil on canvas, mixed media and assemblages.
Artwalk 2011 is the sixth annual celebration of art and commerce in Nyack and is scheduled for Friday, June 17, 7-9 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 12-5 p.m. & 6-9 p.m. and Sunday, June 19, 12-5 p.m.
For the first time Mr. Derr has a special treat for children. He will be conducting an "art class" on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Eyevolution. Using materials relating to the Edward Hopper theme of ArtWalk, he will introduce his students to the images of Hopper employing a coloring book format that includes questions to stimulate their imagination. Mr. Derr employs a wide cross section of artistic disciplines including traditional and digital painting, mixed media, assemblages and photography. His works have recently been displayed at the European Council of International Schools in Nice, France; as well as exhibitions in Spain, The Czech Republic, Germany and The United Kingdom.
Mr. Derr has won numerous awards including: the Adobe Digital Imaging Competition, International. Digital Mural Competition and NY Art Director's Club. He has been featured in Gallery and Studio Magazine, Photoshop User, and Digital Fine Arts Magazine as well as numerous online exhibitions and websites.
