Tarboro, NC (PressExposure) September 23, 2009 -- Jim Buie was awarded a franchise with Dryer Vent Wizard in November, 2006. He has found his career to be rewarding as he is providing a much needed service while helping consumers cut down on energy costs. âWith rising energy costs, my role is to advise my customers on proper dryer vent maintenance to keep their clothes dryers operating safely and efficiently,â said Jim. âDryer Vent Wizard will meet the goal to make one million clothes dryers safer and greener by 2010.â
Jim explains how important it is that dryer vent systems be cleaned annually and that they meet city, state and manufacturer codes. âVinyl or flexible foil vents need to be replaced with semi-rigid or solid metal venting. Lint traps should be cleaned before and after drying each load of laundry and lint screens should be cleaned with soap and water every few months to remove residue left behind by fabric softeners and dryer sheets.â
The most common sign of poor air flow is when clothes take more than one cycle to dry. âThis does not mean your dryer is old or wearing out,â said Jim. âThis is a sure sign of restricted air flow which is a fire hazard. Dryer vent cleaning will fix this problem and have the clothes dryer running like new.â
In joining efforts with the NFPA, Dryer Vent Wizard is providing advice to consumers to minimize the risk of dryer fires. Franchisees are encouraged to write articles and post them to blogs for consumers to read. Read Jimâs blog at http://dryerventcleaningraleigh.blogspot.com/ for more information.
