Expert Wins Permission for a Mixed Development

Heathfield, United Kingdom (PressExposure) February 27, 2013 -- Glenn Moore, of Pevensey based GM Moore Associates, has secured permission for the redevelopment of a former nursery in Catsfield, East Sussex, to include six executive houses, as well as commercial office units. The site, called Warren's Yard, is currently used by a land-services contractor however, due to the current economic climate, the business has been scaled back.

Although Catsfield is in the High Weald AONB, the planning application was approved due thanks to Glenn's thorough and convincing supporting statement to the planning officers at Rother District Council. At the heart of the proposal was the client's wish to make better use of the existing space and to allow the business to become profitable once again.

Glenn's planning statement outlined how the proposed development had been meticulously thought out and designed to respect and work with the landscape of the High Weald, while also sustaining the rural economy. Glenn had several key considerations to make the unusual mixed commercial and residential site appeal to the planning department. For instance, the layout has been designed to take advantage of the existing landscape as much as possible and to reflect a typical Sussex hamlet.

Glenn Moore explained: "I am delighted that we managed to get approval for this application which required a large amount of research and thought, as well as our design skills. The client is extremely happy too as developing the site will enable their company to continue trading and, hopefully, start to thrive again. The development will also add the much-needed housing stock of Rother and, as the site is already in commercial use, it will not be harmful to a greenfield area. The development will also benefit the community by providing employment opportunities."

The development will be undertaken in two phases. Phase 1 is the commercial development and phase 2 will involve the residential development.

Glenn has a reputation for designing and gaining permission for extraordinary eco houses and both the commercial and residential buildings will use the latest energy saving measures, technology and sustainable materials. The finished properties will make use of renewable energies and have been designed with Code Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes in mind. There is also a clear plan in place for the management of water and the encouragement of biodiversity.

Award-winning GM Moore and Associates is based in Pevensey, East Sussex, and provides a range of design, planning and technical services that include extensions and refurbishments to period properties, conversion of barns and oasts and construction of new sustainable buildings using traditional methods and materials in new and innovative ways.
