Finalists in Private Kilimanjaro's Charity Challenge Competition Announced

Nottingham, United Kingdom (PressExposure) March 18, 2011 -- Private Kilimanjaro's competition to find the most fun and original idea for a charity climb up Kilimanjaro announced the finalists for the public voting stage today. Jane Deakin, Managing Director of Private Kilimanjaro said " The idea of winning a free climb has generated a fantastic response and it has been really difficult to choose the finalists. Eventually though we got it down to four all of which would be brilliant to see happen"

The four finalist teams are

Cool Runnings who are planning to climb dressed as the Cool Running's bobsleigh team from the hit 1993 film wearing skin tight suits and full helmets carrying a bobsleigh for the entire journey. They want to do this for Help the Hero's to provide maximum publicity to this special charity. Tim Jones , the team leader said "These people fight for our lives so we can participate in such adventures and it would be the smallest payback"

Super Heroes who say "We are a crazy group and would climb Kilimanjaro in super hero costumes. We are raising money at the moment for a radio mast in Sudan so this opportunity would really help us"

Blue Diamonds vs Kilimanjaro 4 are a team of Manchester City supporters planning to hold a 4-a-side football game on the summit. They plan to film this Match of the Day style, show it pay per view on the Man City website and broadcast it at half time at the first team game. James Beaumont from kit suppliers Umbro said "The chosen few climbers are not multi-million pound footballers, or flash executives,... just crazy for attempting this climb for a game of footy!" All proceeds will be raised for the Man City club charities including; St.Ann'sHospice, Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Children's Adventure Farm Trust, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and the club's community scheme, CITC.

Time Lapse who propose to summit with a helmet camera on for the entire climb to document the climb from base to peak. They then plan to use the footage using time lapse to make dvd's to be sold to every climber of Kilimanjaro and as promotional footage. Ed Prow who came up with this idea said "I have produced a time lapse film before for a charity 40 mile walk and it is used in the same way. I would like to win this competition so as I could be the producer of this time lapse footage for my charity Teenage Cancer Trust."

The overall winner will be decided by the public who can cast their vote from 1st - 31st March here at Win a Kilimanjaro climb and Win a Kilimanjaro climb Facebook.

The prize for the winning idea is an 8 day Kilimanjaro climb via the Machame route provided by Private Kilimanjaro; free vaccinations from Nomad, the leading Travel Clinic and free travel insurance from Dogtag, the leading insurer for action-minded travellers.
