Gathering Ambassadors Provide a Warm Limerick Welcome This Summer

Ennis, Ireland (PressExposure) June 10, 2013 -- Visitors to Limerick are receiving an extra warm welcome as Volunteer 'Gathering' Ambassadors take to the streets of city this summer.

The Gathering Volunteer Ambassador Programme is running throughout the summer in five locations around the country with Gathering Volunteer Ambassadors greeting visitors from all over the world and providing information on upcoming Gathering events in their local area.

Limerick boasts one of Ireland's most comprehensive Gathering programmes with 147 festivals and events taking place throughout the City and County.

Speaking at the launch of the Gathering Volunteer Ambassador Programme in Limerick, Mary Killeen Fitzgerald, Gathering Limerick Coordinator said: "We are delighted to be able to participate in the Gathering Volunteer Ambassador Programme and showcase the range of quality Gathering events taking place in Limerick this year. People who are passionate about their area's attractions, traditions or culture can still register to be part of the programme and help welcome visitors to Limerick City Ireland throughout the busy tourist season."

Volunteer Ireland, on behalf of The Gathering Ireland, is currently recruiting Gathering Volunteer Ambassadors for the programme which runs until October this year. Volunteers must be 18 or over, have fluent English and should be available to volunteer for one two-hour shift per week from Wednesday through Sunday. The first half of 2013 has already seen a number of significant Gathering events held throughout Limerick, including the Abbey Fishermen Homecoming Gathering, Riverfest Limerick, Great Limerick Run, LIT Film Festival and Fleadh by the Feale.

Events scheduled to take place during the coming months include Bloomsday in Bruff (13-16 Jun), FISA World Rowing Tour 2013 (15 Jun), The Gathering at Glenstal (22 Jun), Blas International Summer School (24 Jun - 6 Jul), A Week of Welcomes in Kilmallock (12-21 Jul), Angela's Ashes - The Musical in Limerick City's Lime Tree Theatre (14-21 Jul), Irish Festival of Speed at Greenmount Raceway and Limerick City (3-4 Aug), and the inaugural Richard Harris International Film Festival in Dooradoyle, UL and The Georgian House in Limerick City (25-27 Oct).
