Miami Shores, Florida (PressExposure) April 19, 2008 -- Gaysofla.com and two of the online magazineâs contributors have been nominated for 2008 Latino Press Awards (LPA) by the editorial staff of Latino Boys Magazine (LBM). Gaysofla.com has been nominated for the LGBT Website of the Year award and the online media outletâs political writer Waymon Hudson and nightlife writer George Maiko Coronado have both been nominated for the Columnist of the Year award.
Now in its second year, the 2008 Latino Press Awards will be held at the prestigious Lincoln Theatre in Miami Beach on Tuesday, May 13, beginning at 7:30 PM. According to a LBM press release, the awards ceremony was created to honor members of the media and those in the business community who have consistently supported the gay Latino community throughout the year.
In addition to the scores of superlative category nominees being recognized, LBM will honor Cuban-American model and television host Lili Estefan. âWe are proud to honor Lili Estefan for her years of outstanding Latin entertainment industry journalism,â said Adeilson George, publisher of LBM.
Estefan will be honored with the LPA Prestige Award for her role as co-host on the popular Univision television show, El Gordo y la Flaca. Airing Monday through Friday, the show features Estefan and co-host Raul De Molina dishing gossip about the worldâs Latin entertainers and interviewing Spanish language media personalities and legends.
David L. Wylie, Senior Editor for [http://www.Gaysofla.com] admits the competition in the Website of the Year category is tough, but heâs pleased the upstart e-zine was even considered. âI know it sounds cliché but it really is an honor to just be nominated,â Wylie said. âWeâve got a great team of talented contributors and I was thrilled to find out that two of our writers were nominated for the Columnist of the Year award,â he added. Wylie said that heâll have to vote twice so he can cast votes for both George and Waymon.
The 2008 Latino Press Awards will be hosted by Cachita of the Univision television show El Gordo y la Flaca and Vixen of the LBM TVâs Vix in the City. A complete list of categories, a voting ballot and information on how to purchase tickets to the event are all available at The Latino Press Award website (www.latinopressaward.com).
