Get Ready to Participate in Green Card Lottery 2013

Henderson, Nevada (PressExposure) September 29, 2011 -- The Green Card or Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery is an annual event and registration for the 2013 lottery begins at noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT -4), Tuesday, October 4, 2011, and at ends noon, Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT -5), Wednesday, November 2, 2011.

The Green Card Lottery is a congressionally mandated program for receiving a United States Permanent Resident Card. The lottery is administered every year by the Department of State and conducted under the terms of Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Section 203(c) of the INA was amended by section 131 of the Immigration Act of 1990 allowing for a new class of immigrants known as "diversity immigrants." This made available 50,000 permanent resident visas annually to foreign nationals from countries deemed to have low rates of immigration to the United States.

All applications receive separate numbers at the Kentucky Consular Center. Then a computer randomly selects the winning numbers from the available application pool from each geographic region. Since the process is random, then all applications have an equal chance of getting selected in the Green Card Lottery program. Winners will be notified by mail and the letter will also have instructions for the visa application process. Appointment letters to the winners will be sent by the Kentucky Consular Center around four to six weeks before the interview with the US consular officers overseas.

In the coming weeks, we will update you with more details as they become available. In 2010, at least 19.6 million people applied for visas through the Diversity Visa Program. Therefore, avoid website delays by not waiting until the last minute to register. And remember that NO applications will be accepted after noon, EST, on November 2, 2011. Don't miss out on this opportunity for receiving a United States Permanent Resident Card or Green Card. Many Green Card Lottery applications are rejected because they were not filled out correctly. We at provide a valuable service and will assist you with your application ensuring that it is done right minimizing the number of rejected applications each year.
