New York, New York (PressExposure) February 13, 2012 -- Sasha Cekerevac, editor for daily financial newsletter Penny Stock Detectives, has analyzed the relative performance of various sectors looking for the January flow of funds as a precursor to what may be in store for the rest of the year. According to Cekerevac, the results show that silver and gold have been the big winners in January.
Silver was up approximately 20% and gold up just over 11% for the month of January, but Cekerevac cautions that he wouldn't rush out and buy precious metals tomorrow, as he expects some consolidation gains before moving up.
"There is value in gold and silver mining companies. Both big-cap and penny stocks," says Cekerevac.
Cekerevac highlights Barrick Gold Corporation and Goldcorp Inc. for investors looking for diversified mining firms. "Diversification helps protects the investor from any problems at one specific mine, but you get less upside than a penny stock," says Cekerevac.
A penny stock miner that looks interesting to Cekerevac is Golden Star Resources Ltd. Cekerevac says "With facilities in West Africa coming back on-line, Golden Star expects production to rise from 301,000 ounces of gold in 2011 to 350,000-370,000 ounces in 2012."
A pure exploration company that has some interesting prospects, according to Cekerevac, is Silver Bull Resources, Inc. "The firm is involved in exploratory work on several properties," says Cekerevac "At Silver Bull's main site, the Sierra Mojada project, the firm expects to find silver and zinc." Cekerevac also points out that Silver Bull is involved in exploration in Gabon, Africa, where the company prospects for gold, manganese, and iron ore.
"With more monetary stimulus-meaning more money printing-we will get more inflation. This is a hugely bullish sign for precious metals," says Cekerevac. "Gold and silver will continue to go up as long as central bankers keep the money tap open."
